Self-assessment is the core of the EFQM Excellence Model. It is not only a technical element but also the first step towards change in order to identify those aspects that we want to improve. From the management, we have to be able to transmit the culture of acceptance of the will to improve, to get people to agree to enter into a process of self-evaluation in which they will judge themselves and see what they can improve and what they are doing well. If we can get this culture rooted in the organization we will have our first battle won on the road to improvement.
